Welcome our new instructors: Hayden Bumgarner & Gabriel Scott
We are very excited to announce that instructors Hayden Bumgarner (Drum Instructor) and Gabriel Scott (Piano Instructor) have joined the LKN Music School family. Hayden is here on Fridays and Gabriel is here on Thursdays, so be sure to sign up soon!
Hi, I’m Hayden Bumgarner. As a kid I was always interested in music and playing rhythm games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band. I began music with saxophone in 6th grade but began to pick up drum set in 8th grade with the help of private lessons. Throughout high school I stayed as the drum set player for our Jazz Band which was certainly a challenge that led to some great playing opportunities around the surrounding counties, Wilmington NC, and even the U.S.S. North Carolina.
My junior year of high school, I finally made the switch from saxophone to percussion during marching and concert season where I was section leader/captain. I am grateful to have been able to play snare and drum set for various performances in France for the 75th anniversary of D-Day to remember, celebrate, and honor those there during that time. I have played in various ensembles and bands for churches and even for the Merlefest school outreach program. I have since then became the assistant band director of East Burke High school and teach marching percussion there during marching season.
I look forward to share my knowledge of drums and music with my students and I hope to help them gain a passion for music, grow in their playing ability, grow in their belief for themselves, and most importantly to have fun!
My name is Gabriel Scott, I'm 19 years old and I love the outdoors, especially going on runs and soaking in nature. My favorite instrument is the piano and my favorite genre of music is rock, but I can appreciate anything that sounds good. I believe the key to getting good at something is just practice.
If you're looking for a reason to finally learn how to play the piano and read music or just need someone to encourage you to keep getting better, here's a quote I'd like to share with you: "The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, but the next best time is today."
Group Make-Up Lessons!!
We are very excited to introduce group make-up lessons effective January 1st, 2023, that will replace the individual make-up lesson policy. If for any reason you need to miss your lesson, you can simply sign up for a group make-up class. The hour-long group make-up classes will be held on Saturdays in our front lobby. If a lesson is missed due to a school staffing issue, then you will still receive the private a make-up lesson. We are still finalizing all the details, so stay tuned!!!
